Why We Started Frostline
Mike Fontaine grew up in Yellowknife and did his plumbing apprenticeship here — learning northern conditions the hard way. By 2009, he'd seen enough jobs done poorly by companies that didn't understand permafrost, extreme cold-climate pipe routing, or the simple fact that in the NWT, you can't wait a week for a callback.
He founded Frostline with one idea: be the company he'd wanted to call when he was a homeowner with a frozen line at midnight and nobody picking up. Fast response. Straight quotes. Show up when you say you will.
Fifteen years later, Carla and Mike run the business together. Their team is small by design — every technician is a licensed journeyman who knows the job, not a subcontractor filling a gap. When you call Frostline, you get the same person on the phone and often the same tech at your door.
